Our local transport links are not as strong as they should be. We have had a lot of overdevelopment locally with thousands of new homes being built across the borough without enough investment in our transport infrastructure. This has lead to our roads and transport links becoming are overused, slow and congested.
My campaign plan to Get Eastleigh Moving is focused on delivering better transport links for our communities. I want people to be able to get to work or drop their children off at school quickly and easily. There is also a role for sustainable transport in this mix with better footpaths and cycle lanes. Accessibility is also key issue and we need to ensure our transport connections are suitable for disabled people.
For this reason I'm currently working towards:
- Installing a lift for disabled people at Hedge End Station.
- Getting Highways England to finish the M27 smart motorway construction work as quickly as possible to ease congestion.
- Resurfacing the M27 between J5-7 with a low noise asphalt to make the motorway quieter for residents in Hedge End and West End.
- Securing money from the Government and working with Hampshire County Council to deliver the Chickenhall Lane Link Road.
