Access to high-quality healthcare is essential as we are all living longer and fuller lives.
Eastleigh is well served by Southampton General Hospital and Royal Hampshire Hospital in Winchester but community healthcare services could be improved substantially. We have had a lot of new houses built without the supporting increase in surgery places and more GPs to look after a growing population. Even before the COVID pandemic, people struggled to access GP appointments and other community healthcare services like mental health support. As we recover from COVID, it is even more important that people can access the health services they need to live their life to the full.
My campaign for Happier, Healthier Lives is about making sure that everyone can access our NHS and medical help when they need, that their friends and family will be well looked after if they are sick and that
To make this happen, I am campaigning for:
- Increase the number of GPs and surgery appointments in Eastleigh.
- Expand the provision GP appointments so it is easier to get an appointment at evenings and weekends.
- Cut the waiting times for treatment with local mental health services.
